CG ONG SIEW GAY AND ANHUI GOVERNOR LI BIN AFFIRM STRONG SINGAPORE-ANHUI RELATIONS

"CG Ong Siew Gay, who was attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the Su-Chu Investment Park (SCIP) in Chuzhou, Anhui on 28 April 2012, called on Anhui Governor Li Bin. Both sides agreed that Singapore-Anhui relations, underpinned by strong economic collaboration, possessed good potential for further growth. Singapore-Anhui bilateral trade had risen year-on-year by almost 80% in 2011. CG was also hosted to lunch by Anhui Party Secretary Zhang Baoshun, and took the opportunity to invite Zhang and his officials to visit Singapore.

The SCIP represents the first investment outside of Jiangsu Province by the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Dev Group Co. Ltd, which has now looked beyond the SIP for future growth.This follows closely Hu Jintao's advocation that the SIP must leverage on its competitive advantages to replicate its experience beyond Suzhou so as to help industries in the coastal cities relocate to the inland areas."
