CG Ong Siew Gay's introductory visit to Zhejiang Province

Consul General Ong Siew Gay made his introductory visit to Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, from 21 to 23 March 2012. CG Ong met with Zhejiang officials, including Vice Governor Gong Zheng and Hangzhou Vice Mayor Tong Guili. Both sides exchanged views on further deepening bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Zhejiang. Vice Governor Gong updated CG Ong on Zhejiang’s developmental priorities. CG Ong expressed confidence in the prospects for further growth in bilateral ties, and highlighted Singapore’s investment activities in Zhejiang.

The delegation took the opportunity to visit Zhejiang University as well as several Singapore investment projects in Hangzhou. Zhejiang University, one of China's foremost institutions of higher learning, is in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design in education, research, student exchanges and joint undergraduate design competitions. CG Ong also met several private enterprises in Hangzhou to promote Singapore as an investment destination of choice for Chinese enterprises.

Since taking up appointment after the Lunar New Year, CG Ong has on separate occasions met with officials from Anhui Province, Shanghai Municipality, as well as Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou city. He also made an early visit to the Suzhou Industrial Park, the very first flagship investment platform between Singapore and China at the Governmenal level.
